Thug pobal na Gaeilge in Ard Mhacha freagra bríomhar, dearfach, gealgháireach ar bhiogóideacht chomhairle Ard Mhacha agus ar na tuairimí diúltacha a nocht roinnt comhairleoirí dár gcuid ar na mallaibh. Bhailigh scaifte de bhreis agus 200 le chéile ag príomhgheataí na Comhairle ar an 22ú Lúnasa agus shiúil siad a fhad le foirgneamh na Comhairle. Bhí neart páistí agus teaghlaigh óga i láthair, rud a chuir gliondar an chroí ar an lucht eagraithe, agus bhí siad ag ceol agus ag rince leo ar an bhealach chuig an chomhairle. Bhí na ceoltóirí iontacha ón Chiorcal Comhrá i láthair agus tá muid fíorbhuíoch dóibh uilig as an cheol agus an chraic a chothú ar an oíche. Tá muid fíorbhuíoch fosta do Janet Muller agus d’fhoireann POBAL a tháinig aníos ó Bhéal Feirste leis na meirgí móra dahtúla le haird an phobail a dhíriú ar an imeacht. Chomh maith le Gaeil an cheantair, bhí neart Gael ann ó Chois Mhic Lionnáin, ó Iúr Cinn Trá, ón Lorgain, ó Mhuineachán agus ó Nua Eabhrac féin le cur le craic na hócáide agus gabhann CAIRDE Teo buíochas ó chroí le achan duine acu. Bhronn Seán Ó Maoilsté, Oifigeach Forbartha Gaeilge le CAIRDE Teo, agus Janet Muller, Príomhfheidhmeannach POBAL, scátheagras phobal na Gaeilge,  bhronn siad litir ar Phríomhfheidhmeannach na Comhairle, an tUasal John Briggs, le cur in iúl dó agus don chomhairle ar fad go bhfuil pobal in Ard Mhacha atá ag iarraidh seirbhísí a fháil i nGaeilge agus nach féidir leis an chomhairle cearta a shéanadh ar phobal na Gaeilge níos mó. The Irish language community in Armagh sent an emphatic, lively and positive response to Armagh council’s continuing refusal to recognise the Irish language and to the recent disgusting and offensive remarks attributed to some of our councillors. A crowd of over 200 enthusiastic Gaels gathered at the gates of the council on 22nd August and had great craic as they made their way to the council offices. There were plenty of children and young families present who sang and danced their way towards the council offices, making sure that the pageant was a loud and colourful affair and the organisers want to thank them all for coming out to support their language. We were fortunate to be joined by the fantastic musicians from our own Ciorcal Comhrá and we are grateful to them for keeping the craic going and making it an evening to remember. We are also grateful to Janet Muller and to everyone at POBAL who came down from Belfast to support the gaels of Armagh and their colourful banners attracted the attention of the public as they passed by. The Gaels of Armagh were joined by their fellow Gaels from Crossmaglen, from Newry, from Lurgan, from Monaghan and even from New York who all enjoyed the occasion and CAIRDE Teo want to say a huge go raibh maith agat to everyone who joined in the evening’s craic. Our own Irish language Development Officer, Seán Ó Maoilsté joined Janet Muller, chief executive of POBAL to present a letter to chief executive of Armagh council, John Briggs  to inform him and the council that the growing Irish language community in Armagh demand and deserve to be recognised and that Irish speakers will no longer allow themselves to be discriminated against by the council.
