Bíonn ranganna oíche ar siúl ar fud an chontae, le ranganna i nDoire Mhic Cais, ar an Lorgain, i bPort an Dúnáin, in Ard Mhacha, ar an Mhullach Bán, i mBéal Leice, i gCrois Mhic Lionnáin agus ar an Iúr. CAIRDE Teo in conjunction with the Armagh GAA Culture Committee will be holding another series of intensive Irish language classes on Saturday 20 October in the Morgan Athletic Grounds in Armagh between 11am and 4pm. The classes cater for beginners, intermediate level and advanced learners and they have proven to be extremely popular in the past. A £10 fee covers the cost of the classes and lunch and CAIRDE Teo are delighted to support the continuing development of our national language in the heart of the GAA in Armagh.

In June of this year, the classes received the backing of Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure when Carál Ní Chuilín paid a visit to launch her Líofa 2015 campaign and to attend the intermediate class. Líofa 2015, which means Fluent 2015, is a scheme developed by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, which aims to encourage 5000 people in the north of Ireland to sign a personal commitment that they will do their best to become fluent Irish speakers by the year 2015. Those who have signed up to the Líofa campaign attend classes throughout the north, including here in County Armagh. There are many evening classes being held throughout the county in Derrymacash, Lurgan, Portadown, Armagh, Mullaghbane, Beleek, Crossmaglen and Newry. If you are interested in learning Irish, contact Seán Ó Maoilsté, Irish Language Development Officer with Cairde Teo in Armagh on 028 3751 5229 or sean@cairdeteo.com.
