Tá comórtas aiste Chairde na mBriogáidí Idirnáisiúnta do dhaltaí dara leibhéal ar oscailt anois. Tabharfar cuireadh don bhuaiteoir a n-aiste a léamh i Maidrid ag comóradh Chath Jarama i mí Feabhra 2014 chomh maith le tuismitheoir nó caomhnóir. Díolfar eitiltí agus lóistín mar aoíanna speisialta Chairde na mBriogáidí Idirnáisiúnta.1) Bíodh ábhar an aiste faoi aon ghné de róil nó eispéiris bhaill na mBriogáidí Idirnáisiúnta as Éirinn, i rith nó i ndiaidh Chogadh Cathartha na Spáinne 1936-39.

2) Ní mór leaganacha deiridh na n-aistí bheith i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla, agus ní mór dóibh bheith níos lú ná 1,500 focal ar fad.

3) Ní mór 3 fhoinse ar a laghad a cheadú, agus ba chóir fonótaí bheith leis an aiste leis na foinsí a chur in iúl.

4) Tá cead ag aon dalta suas le 19 bliain d’aois, atá ag cúrsa dara leibhéal in Éirinn le linn thréimhse an chomórtais, aiste a chur isteach, ach é bheith curtha de r-phost chuig Cairde na mBriogáidí Idirnáisiúnta roimh an spriocdháta agus sonraí teagmhála an dalta bheith leis, mar aon le sonraí teagmhála múinteora nó maoirseora cúrsa le go dtig aois an dalta a dheimhniú.

541796_4810861509507_1468296634_nFIBI’s second annual essay competition for second level students in Ireland is now open. The winner will be invited to read their essay in Madrid at the February 2014 commemorations for the Battle of Jarama in Madrid, accompanied by a parent or guardian. Their flights and accommodation will be paid for them as guests of FIBI and the AABI, the Madrid-based friends of the International Brigades.

 1) The subject of the essays can be any aspect of the roles and experiences of members of the International Brigades that relates to Ireland, either during or after the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39.

 2) Final versions of each essay must be in either English or Irish, and not more than 1,500 words in length.

 3) At least 3 sources should be consulted, and the essay should have footnotes indicating when these sources are being quoted, or relied on in the text.

 4) Any student up to 19 years of age, in any second level course anywhere in Ireland during the time of the competition, is eligible to enter, provided the essay is emailed to FIBI before the deadline, and is accompanied by contact details of the student whose work it is, and also contact details of their teacher or course supervisor who can confirm the student’s age and second level course participation.

 6) The deadline for submitting essays is Saturday, 23rd November 2013.

 7) All entrants will receive a certificate attesting to their essay, suitable for inclusion in CVs, etc.

 8) All decisions by the judges are final.
