BbdXEHqIMAAdIyOBhí cuairteoir speisialta in Ard Mhacha Dé Sathairn nuair a ghlac Daidí na Nollag an t-am as a sceideal ríghnóthach le cuairt a thabhairt ar pháistí na bunscoile a d’fhreastail ar chóisir speisialta Nollag a d’eagraigh CAIRDE Teo. Tugadh cuireadh do na páistí, ar Gaeilgeoirí líofa iad uilig, freastal ar chóisir Ghaeilge sa Pháirc Lúthchleasa. D’fhreastail na páistí ar cheardlanna ealaíona agus ceirdíochta faoi stiúr chomhordaitheoir ealaíne CAIRDE Teo, Máire Ní Phronntaigh. Rinne siad neart máisiúchán Nollag agus is cinnte go bhfuil siad uilig feistithe in airde i dtithe ar fud na cathrach.

Bhain na páistí an-sult as ceardlann bhríomhar i rince ar an sean-nós, leis an rinceoir iomráiteach as Conamara, Edel Ní Churraoin ar cuairt in Ard Mhacha den chéad uair riamh. Tá an-rath ar an rince ar an sean-nós le blianta beaga anuas le TG4 ag craoladh craobh-chomórtais rince ag Oireachtas na Samhna, chomh maith le roinnt mhaith taispeántas eile den rince ar TG4 agus ar RTÉ. Chomh maith leis sin, bhí an-dúil ag na páistí uilig sa cheardlann amhránaíochta a rinne an ceoltóir áitiúil Mícheál Ó hAodha, le leaganacha Gaeilge de phop-amhráin mór le rá.

DSC02120Ach níl amhras ar bith gurb é buaicphointe an lae ná an cuairteoir speisialta a tháinig an bealach ar fad ón Mholl Thuaidh. Labhair Daidí na Nollag leis na páistí uilig agus thug sé bronntanas do na buachaillí agus do na cailíní uilig. Ba mhaith le CAIRDE Teo buíochas a ghabháil le CLG Ard Mhacha, le Máire, Edel agus Mícheál, JPs agus Dáidí na Nollag a chuidigh linn a chinntiú go raibh lá den scot hag na páistí go léir. Ba mhaith linn buíochas a ghabháil leis na páistí a d’fhreastail ar an chóisir mhór agus guíonn muid gach beannacht orthu agus ar a dteaghlaigh do Nollaig mhór mhaith. Nollaig shona daoibh uilig.

There was a special visitor in Armagh on Saturday when Daidí na Nollag (Santa Clause) took time out of his very busy schedule to visit the children from the bunscoil who attended a special Christmas party organised by local Irish language organisation CAIRDE Teo. The children, who are all fluent Irish speakers, were invited to attend an Irish language Christmas party held in the Athletic Grounds. The children took part in arts and crafts workshops organised by CAIRDE Teo arts coordinator Máire Ní Phronntaigh. They made a number of Christmas decorations, which will no doubt be adorning many households across the city.

DSC02154The children were also treated to a fantastic and lively workshop in sean-nós dancing, with reknowned Conamara dancer Edel Ní Churraoin visiting the cathedral city for the first time. Sean-nós dancing has become increasingly popular in recent years with TG4’s live broadcasts of the sean-nós dancing competitions from the Oireachtas, as well as many showcases on TG4 and RTÉ television. The children also took part in a singing workshop with local musician Mícheál Ó hAodha teaching a number of Irish language versions of pop songs.

However, there is no doubt that the highlight of the day was our special visitor all the way from An Moll Thuaidh (The North Pole) when Santa arrived for presents for all of the boys and girls. CAIRDE Teo would like to thank Armagh GAA, Máire, Edel and Mícheál, JPs and Dáidí na Nollag for helping to ensure the children had a fantastic day. The organisers would like to thank the children for making the day a huge success and we wish them all and their families a very happy Christmas. Nollaig shona daoibh uilig.
