Tá an picnic á eagrú ag CAIRDE Teo le ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar fhéile ársa Ceilteach Lughnasa agus is féidir le teaghlaigh bualadh leo ag an láthair phicnicí taobh amuigh den chaifé ag ionad Eamhain Mhacha. Is féidir le teaghlaigh a bpicnic féin a thabhairt leo agus beidh neart spraoi ann don teaghlach ar fad.

Beidh Cleamairí Ard Mhacha mar aíonna speisialta ceolmhara ag an phicnic le béim a leagan ar an tseanfhéile Ghaelach. Beidh roinnt amhrán, rincí agus ceol thíos ag an ionad agus déanfaidh muid ár mbealach a fhad le hEamhain Mhacha féin i bparáid na gCleamairí. Beidh níos mó spraoi againn ag Eamhain Mhacha féin le roinnt cluichí do pháistí d’achan aois.  Is é an aidhm atá leis an phicnic ná páistí ó Ghaelscoileanna an cheantair a spreagadh an teanga a labhairt taobh amuigh den seomra ranga, go háirithe i rith an tsamhraidh, agus deis a thabhairt do thuismitheoirí bualadh le chéile agus smaointí a roinnt i dtaca le tógáil páistí i dtimpilleacht dhátheangach. Tagann an picnic seo sna sála ar phicnic an-rathúil a bhí ar siúl i mí Bealtaine ag an ionad céanna.

Irish speaking families from across Armagh are being invited to take part in a special Irish language family picnic at 12.30pm at Navan Fort on Monday 3 August. The picnic is being organised by city-based Irish language and cultural group CAIRDE Teo to celebrate the ancient Celtic festival of Lughnasa and families may meet up at the picnic area outside the café at the Navan Centre. Families are encouraged to bring along their own picnics and join in the fun at Navan Fort.

Navan picnic 4We will be joined by Armagh Rhymers at the picnic who will help us celebrate the ancient Gaelic festival. There will be plenty of songs, dances and tunes at the centre and families will make their way to Navan Fort as part of a Rhymers parade. There will be plenty of fun at Navan Fort with traditional games for children of all ages. The aim of the picnic is to encourage children from local Irish medium schools to use their Irish outside of the classroom, especially during the summer, and to give parents the opportunity to meet up and share ideas about raising children in a bilingual environment. This picnic follows on from the highly successful picnic organised by CAIRDE Teo in May at the same location.

If you are a parent of children from the local Irish medium schools and you would like to attend the picnic, you can contact Seán in the Irish language gift shop, Seacht, located in the Eurospar shopping centre or on sean@cairdeteo.com or 028 3751 5229. Cairde Teo organises various family events to support children attending local Irish medium schools. If you are interested in raising your family through the medium of Irish or in learning Irish, call in to the Cairde Teo office for advice and information on the many benefits of a bilingual upbringing and education.
