The bilingual hillwalking group Siúil will continue their hillwalking series on Saturday 7 July with another visit to the Mourne Mountains. The group will walk on Slieve Lough Shannagh and Doan in the heart of the Mournes, starting at 11am at Ott carpark on Slievenaman Road near Spelga Dam. The group will follow the path to the col between Carn Mountain and Slieve Lough Shannagh and follow the Mourne wall to the summit, which stands at 617 metres. Heading down to the col, the group will cross the valley to the impressive rocky mountain, Doan, which sits at the centre of the range offering a superb view into the Silent Valley, as well as a 360 degree view of the extent of the Mourne mountains.
